Our Programs
3-5 Years
Looking to prepare your child for school and the wider world?
We can help! Our Little Dragons programme teaches respect, concentration and following directions. The children will develop their social skills through group activities, and will improve their fitness, co-ordination and motor skills. This is particularly important as we see Covid ‘lockdown' babies joining our classes, who in many cases have missed out on almost a year of socialisation. These often come to us needing more help as they can have bigger issues with crowds, noise and strangers.
This is all done through age-appropriate martial arts classes, where the children learn whilst having loads of fun! We even offer karate parties if your child wants to share their hobby with friends for their birthday

7-12 Years
Does your child spend too much time playing computer games?
Karate is an action-packed alternative, teaching discipline, respect and the value of hard work. Our team will work to instil boundaries and a positive mental attitude to help them succeed in life.
Our belt grading system instils critical life skills such as self-motivation, and learning how work even harder to overcome a disappointment. This is far better than just letting them quit when the going gets tough, an amazing life lesson.
There is a popular saying in martial arts circles “quitters never win, and winners never quit” - we will encourage your child to become a winner and watch their confidence soar!

Adults Class
Looking for fitness with purpose in an adult environment?
Learning to defend yourself by learning a martial art is great fun, and there is always something new to learn, so you won’t get bored. You will improve your fitness and energy levels as you go, all of this in a fun, supportive, adult environment.
Become the best version of yourself. Learning a martial art is an impressive and fun activity to dedicate some spare time to; just watch your fitness and energy levels improve within our supportive, hardworking environment.
We will instil a positive mental attitude, and high goal setting towards each belt-testing, with every member in the class supporting each other.

"Amazing Senshi lessons we just recently started our 3yr old to be able to listen and learn - our child is gradually building confidence with the weekly lessons to be ready for reception next year with skill set under his belt."

The Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts
The Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts recognises clubs or providers in England who have demonstrated that they have reached and maintained good safeguarding standards. It helps to demonstrate that clubs like Senshi Ryu Martial Arts work to protect the children, young people and adults that are involved in their activities, as well as those coaches/instructors who are working with them.
The Safeguarding Code also exists to reward deliverers who ensure that their coaches, instructors and volunteers have confidence and knowledge about how to report safeguarding concerns, and participants, the required information and suitable environment to enable them to report their own welfare concerns. The Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts "mark" has been created so that parents/carers and educational establishments can clearly identity who has successfully signed up to the Safeguarding Code.
Senshi Ryu is proud to have been awarded the mark.
Parents!
To help you make better choices about the sports clubs you choose for your child, the Child Protection in Sport Unit (thecpsu.org.uk) have devised 5 key questions that you should feel confident about asking your child's sports club, or a club you're looking to join, in order to keep your child and children safe in sport.
Whilst we concentrate on self-defence not sport, we agree. In fact, here are the five questions, along with the answers to those questions as applicable to our club:
-
Have the staff been checked out?Yes, they have. All Senshi Ryu instructors are DBS (enhanced) checked to work with children. These checks are not just completed once, but repeated regularly to ensure they remain up to date.
-
Does the club have a safeguarding policy?Yes, we do. The Senshi Ryu safeguarding policy can be found below.
-
What happens if there's an accident? All Senshi Ryu instructors are qualified first aiders, and other members of our team are also qualified. There is always at least one first aider on duty at every class.
-
Who can you talk to?Tanya Lenane is our designated welfare officer, responsible for safeguarding. You can find her contact details in our safeguarding policy.
-
What training is there? Our instructors all receive regular in-house training with regards to teaching, as well as the welfare of our members.
